Are you looking forward to performing at The Concourse, the North Shore’s very own performing arts venue?
I am so excited about performing at the Concourse. The facilities and the phenomenal acoustics of the Concert Hall are really something to look forward to. The last time I performed a solo concert in Sydney was at the Sydney Opera House, and I have so many fans living in the North Shore area I decided the Concourse would be perfect for my new tour ‘This Time Tomorrow.’

Where were you born?
I was born in Brisbane, Australia and grew up in Brisbane. In 2007 I moved to The Netherlands to work with Andre Rieu and since 2012 I have had homes in both countries.

How did you get into singing and what kind of training did you have when growing up?
I was always singing as a child and I started taking vocal lessons when I was 12. I started out singing country and pop music which then evolved into more jazz and musical theatre and finally when I was 18 I started my opera training at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.

You’re a newly-wed, congratulations! Your wedding venue looked lovely!
My husband and I got married at The Castle of Heeswijk in The Netherlands. It was a really picturesque setting and we fell in love with the 12th Century castle the first time we visited. We had a beautiful day.

How did you meet Andre Rieu and what has it been like working with him?
My Aunt sent an email to him to let him know that she had a niece in Australia who would be a perfect addition to his concerts. He immediately called me at home, invited me to Maastricht to meet him. So I flew to Maastricht the next day, auditioned for him in his studio and two weeks later I was on stage with him in Boston in the USA! The rest is history really! I toured extensively with Andre for many many years and still to this day perform with him when I am not touring solo.

What advice would you give to any local North Shore young people that are keen to develop their singing talent and gain exposure?
The most important thing is to believe in yourself and your talent and don’t let anyone tell you that you are not good enough. Listen to criticism and do with it what you can, but never give up on your dreams. I have been told so many times that I would never make it and that I was too ugly, even by a high school music teacher! Luckily I never listened and kept on doing what I loved! Never give up because you never know what tomorrow may bring.
