SING-A-LONG SCREENING of Stephan Elliott’s THE ADVENTURES OF PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT

August 18, 2016 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

On Thursday 18 August the ACTORS BENEVOLENT FUND of NSW are asking you to be a ‘drag’ – get frocked up and come along to the Chauvel Cinema and sing-a-long with Abba, Village People, Gloria Gaynor and more at the world’s first interactive screening of the iconic Aussie classic THE ADVENTURES OF PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT.

If you thought sing-a-long Sound of Music was camp wait ‘til you see ‘Priscilla’ strut her stuff. Wearing Academy award-winning glitzy, flashy and outrageous costumes three drag queens played by Terence Stamp, Hugo Weaving and Guy Pearce journey across the outback to the ‘Alice’ in a bus they have named ‘Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.’

For a night to remember – come along on 18 August – dress to impress and win a prize, dance in the aisles, score a goodie bag, a song sheet, a welcome drink and go home knowing you have helped a wonderful cause all in the name of fun! Hosted by Special Guest MC Maxi Shield.

The Actors Benevolent Fund is the entertainment industry charity which provides financial support for our fellow artists and colleagues in times of difficulty due to injury, illness, disability or financial stress. After 72 years we are experiencing an increasing demand for assistance as many of the familiar faces that have entertained us on big and small screens, on stages and the creatives who work with them, are reaching old age. Most of these well-loved artists have enjoyed the main part of their careers in pre superannuation times and now need support to help them with the challenges age brings. At the other end of the spectrum we have many young actors entering the profession who also need help for a range of issues. Artists have always been willing to donate their talents to raising funds for causes but who is there for them when they need help? Just ABF. By coming along to “Priscilla’ you are supporting the people who have filled our lives with stories, songs, tears and laughter.
