Our team were lucky enough to be seated at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Sydney (MBFWS) and what a fabulous week we all had! Accompanied by our resident photographer Maree Turk, our fashion editor Candice McLintock has pulled out some of the key spring ’17 looks from the runways and helped interpret how to incorporate these trends back into your everyday wardrobe…

Editor’s picks from Fashion Week!

The vibrancy of the fire engine red colour was featured heavily at MBFWA. Indigo and electric blues are set to be the colour for this spring.

Frills & feminism!

Soft, free flowing and structured ruffles were aplenty on the runway! Ruffles are a great way to add volume your bust line. Use caution if you are blessed with a bigger bust and consider using ruffles along sleeve lines of tops or hemlines on skirts.

Sheers, sheens & sateen’s!

This spring many designers showcased shimmering, shining and sometimes sheer fabrications. It goes without saying that sheer garments can be worn over tonal slips, swimsuits or an interesting bra.

Feathered frocks!

Alice McCall’ s feathered jackets were a stand out on the runway. This look can be a difficult one to pull off if you do not have a column figure as the obvious nature of the feathers adds bulk and exaggerated/broader shoulders – try opting for a faux shorter fur alternatives or accessorize with features and fur through bags and wraps.

Aim high!

The high waisted pant was a feature on the catwalk – either opt for a top that sits slightly above the pant line or tuck in your blouse/ shirt to pull off this feminie look.

Cold shoulders!

If you were like us last spring/ summer and stocked up on cold should tops, you need not worry as they will feature again in all their glory this spring including cut outs that are still very much on trend.

80’s inspired sportswear jackets!

The drop waisted, super sized tailored jacket is back from the 80’s and a must have piece for your wardrobes! Go sleeveless for a more unique look.
