Over the last few months we’ve been following a couple of local room makeovers. It’s been fun, creative and inspiring helping all involved, feel more at HOME.

We love a home that’s comfortable, where we can be ourselves and also be hospitable to people around us. Enjoy our before and after shots.

  1. Kids bedroom in Killara

This DIY took the baby room and transformed into a ‘Tween” appropriate room to suit now and hopefully into the teenage years too.  The room is great for doing homework, hanging out, playing Lego, guitar and sleeping comfortably.  Getting rid of the carpet helps to combat against dust allergies.

Who:  It’s was a family DIY project!!  They all got involved!

Budget: They spent under $300.  Using what they had, plus gaining the bed and large shelf from family was a great saving.  The orange desk seat and wardrobe draws were found on the Ku-ring-gai Council road side.  The desk was a fab find at Target.  While shelving, paints, flooring and other building needs were sourced from Bunnings and Ikea.

  1. Living Room in Cremorne

The living room was dark with wasted space in the back corner. The kitchen felt poky with limited storage space. Knocking down the wall has opened up both rooms. Light now streams throughout the apartment, and storage and bench space has increased as the kitchen bleeds into the living room. An additional corner office space was also implemented (right-side) as the bench lowers into a study desk.

Who:  Impala Kitchens, Choices Flooring Crows Nest, B.W.Derrin Constructions

Budget:  $30,000. They were happy with everyone’s contribution. It was a smooth collaboration. It took approximately two months to complete. The table and chairs are from Shack Artarmon. The space is now functional and a joy to be in.
