BY ELISSA TOMLINS, LOCAL MUM... LET’S TALK LUNA PARKOut & AboutSuburbSafari GREAT PLACES TO PLAYON THE NORTH SHORELuna Park is an old favourite sitting in such a picturesque spot on the most beautiful harbour in the world, and there’s so much to do. I reckon it’s a must see spot in Sydney for you and your children. Don’t just leave it to the tourists! We caught the train; Luna Park is an easy and pleasant stroll from Milsons Point station. I also suggest head- ing down through Bradfield Park to the foreshore first and taking a wander, especially if it is a pleasant day. Your little one will love spotting the ferries and yachts, and when they tire of that, you can always watch the swimmers in the North Sydney Olympic Pool for a few minutes. After you have finished your day, catch the bus up the hill back to Milsons Point or North Sydney station and avoid the walk.Once you arrive at Luna Park, you will need to buy a day pass. You will also need to pay for an accompanying adult for most of the rides, so make the commitment to spend the whole day to get the best value. Buying tickets online or visiting on a school day may also help. There are plenty of rides that little children (over 90 cm tall) can go on and there is even a section for pre-schoolers at the far end of the park. There are four rides that do not need an accompanying adult. My daughter loved the thrill of the Whirly Wheel, Spaceship and the mini Ferris Wheel. The Carousel was also a favourite. There is always a promotion of some sort. My little one enjoyed meeting some large characters from the latest Ice Age film, but you never know what will be the flavour of the month when you arrive.Like all fun parks, food is available to purchase but not wonderful or inexpensive, so consider a packed lunch and just purchase the treats. We stopped for some old fashioned fairy floss, it was big enough to feed all three of us! I’m sure your parents took you to Luna Park when you were a child, so now it’s time to pass the experience onto the next generation.ADDRESS DETAILS FOR EACH PARK:1 Luna Park, 1 Olympic Park, Milsons Point.
